So What's the Point?
Is it about impact or is it about numbers. The soul seeks the former, the corporate hellscape demands the latter. It's designed for us to easily mix them up and get lost.
Sometimes they hit, others miss, and mostly it doesn't really matter what I think because I'll never be able to see stuff as other sets of eyes do.
Some people like Waterworld, or whatever the hell Yoko Ono does. Some people will never connect to Van Gogh or Kerouac or Shakespeare.
But that's the point. When we create and hit "send", we want to share ourselves and who we are in that moment. Just as important, we want to connect to those who "get us" or need to see things in the way we express them, because that's what clicks for them. The rest don't get it, it's okay.
There's what, 8 billion people on this rock these day? It only takes connecting to a ridiculously small percentage of them to start creating some pretty amazing waves.
I have to remind myself regularly too, because it's really easy to find proof that nobody gives a flying sh*t about anything you offer. I deal with it all the time, I write constantly and nobody reads it. I create videos nobody watches. The social algorithms make it clear all the time that I am someone whose message is not worth amplifying...
...and I have stacks upon stacks of responses from people making it crystal clear how much what I create has made an impact on their lives and how they view themselves.
It's easy to forget because this world demands that you do, but my friends, that is everything.
I may be finding that some of my work has run its course and I'm heading in different directions, but whichever direction I go it's about impacting those who need it, from the way I need to express it.
As I continue to explore new paths for myself, I continue to offer different ways to support and guide others on their creative journeys. Whether it's through assisting with writing, artistic, and other tasks, or through supporting others through mentoring, brainstorming sessions, and other collaborative experiences.
